Faith Formation

To teach as Jesus did means calling all Christians of every age and stage of life to fulfill their Baptismal call to holiness in family, Church and society.  Ongoing faith formation is essential to accomplish this mission.

Saint Cecilia Religious Formation is comprised of many opportunities to begin or continue enriching your faith. They are:  K-12 Religious Formation Classes; Adult Faith Formation – Bible Study and Rite of Christian Initiation (RCIA – this class is for learning more about your Catholic faith, adults who have not completed their Sacrament preparation or adults interested in joining our Catholic Faith Community); and preparation for all Sacraments.

Preparation for First Communion & First Confession is changing this year. We will be following the guidelines set forth by the Diocese of Madison. These changes will deepen your child’s knowledge and help you to fulfill your primary right and duty through the Sacrament of Baptism to educate your children.

The guidelines are:

  1. Parish faith formation programs and Catholic schools should offer approximately 30 hours of catechetical formation for children in the year prior to their reception of the sacrament and approximately 30 hours of catechetical formation in the year concurrent with their reception of the sacrament.
  1. Parish catechetical leaders should offer 8-10 hours of immediate preparation for the sacraments, in addition to and distinct from the approximately 30 hours of annual catechetical formation.

The 30 hours of catechetical formation from the first guideline will be fulfilled in the normal Wednesday meetings.

In order to fulfill the second guideline of immediate preparation, we will be providing the following formation meetings:
