1st COMMUNION & 1st CONFESSION & CONFIRMATION MEETING SCHEDULES

Preparation for First Communion & First Confession is changing this year. We will be following the guidelines set forth by the Diocese of Madison. These changes will deepen your child’s knowledge and help you to fulfill your primary right and duty through the Sacrament of Baptism to educate your children.

The guidelines are:

  1. Parish faith formation programs and Catholic schools should offer approximately 30 hours of catechetical formation for children in the year prior to their reception of the sacrament and approximately 30 hours of catechetical formation in the year concurrent with their reception of the sacrament.
  1. Parish catechetical leaders should offer 8-10 hours of immediate preparation for the sacraments, in addition to and distinct from the approximately 30 hours of annual catechetical formation.

The 30 hours of catechetical formation from the first guideline will be fulfilled in the normal Wednesday meetings.

In order to fulfill the second guideline of immediate preparation, we will be providing the following formation meetings:

ADULT FAITH FORMATION OPPORTUNITIES

As the adult members of Saint Cecilia Parish, living our mission statement of proclaiming and teaching God’s word, we “must be mature in faith and be well equipped to share the Gospel…through adult faith formation, by which we consciously grow in the life of Christ through experience, reflection, prayer, and study.” – General Directory of Catechesis

NEW ADULT BIBLE STUDY – THE PROPHETS: MESSENGERS OF GOD’S MERCY

If God’s people had stayed close to him, there might have been no need for the prophets. God sent prophets at critical times to call people back to their covenant relationship. Prophets proclaimed the consequences of continued sin, called people to repentance, and declared God’s faithful love. They also spoke of the future to shed light on current events and to reveal God’s plans and purposes.

It is nearly impossible to understand the work and message of Jesus without the prophetic books. In “The Prophets: Messengers of God’s Mercy” study, presenter Thomas Smith examines who the prophets were, their role during their time, and the meaning of their messages for our own time. In this 10 session program, discover how God is constantly calling you to a deeper relationship, as well as the ways you are called to be the voice of God to others.

  • Dates: July 1, 8, 15, 22, and 29; August 12, September 9, 16, 23, and 30
  • $30.00 for 10 sessions
  • Please register by June 25 by contacting Dave Kordell at 608-253-5621 or email: dkordell@dellscatholic.com
